What God's Word Says About the Unknown

Fear of the unknown is one of the most common human experiences. Whether it's headlines about UFOs, scientific theories about black holes, or the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, many people, including believers, are feeling unsettled. But God's Word has something to say about all of it. His absolutes, the unchanging truths found in Scripture, are the foundation we need to stand on when the world feels uncertain.

Why Do We Need God's Absolutes?

Think about gravity. You don't think about it much until you fall. But it's always working, always essential. God's absolutes work the same way. They aren't restrictions meant to hold you back. They are the solid ground you build your life on.

Just as the Hubble telescope eventually confirmed what Jeremiah wrote 2,600 years earlier, that the stars are too numerous to count, God's truth consistently gets ahead of human discovery. Science catches up to Scripture, not the other way around.

Seven Biblical Absolutes to Build Your Life On

• God is love (1 John 4:8)
• God loves you (John 3:16, 1 John 4:19, Romans 5:8)
• God is good and His mercy endures forever (Psalm 136:1)
• God's Word is truth (John 17:17)
• Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6)
• God cannot lie (Titus 1:2)
• God's gift is eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8)

What Happens When We Don't Know God's Character

There's a story about a man who, when told about heaven, refused to go because he was afraid He'd be put to work cleaning all the gold and pearls. It sounds funny, but it reveals something serious. When we don't know God's character, we fill the gaps with fear, myths, and distorted thinking.

Jesus said, "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." That man needed to know that God's plan for Him was rest, not labor. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." His thinking needed to be recalibrated to God's absolutes. So does ours.

Should Christians Be Worried About UFOs?

The conversation around UFOs and UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) has surged. Military leaders, politicians, and credible voices are taking it seriously. And many people of faith are getting rattled by it.

Here's the anchor: "For it was in Him that all things were created in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers or authorities. All things were created and exist through Him." (Colossians 1:16)

Whatever UFOs are or aren't, they still fall under the Colossians 1:16 rule. God created everything, seen and unseen. He manages the cosmos. You don't have to.

What Does the Bible Say About Unknown Beings?

Scripture does describe beings that are not human. Revelation 12 describes a war in heaven where Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. The devil and his demons were cast out of heaven and down to earth. These are real, non-human beings described in God's Word.

Good angels are called "ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation" (Hebrews 1:14). That's you. The enemy and his forces exist in a state of defeat, cast out of their original habitat. Earth was designed for humanity, not exiled demons.

Stop Seeking First the Wrong Things

If fear about UFOs is consuming your thoughts, the issue isn't UFOs. It's a seek-first problem. Jesus said to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Anxiety about the unknown is a signal to redirect your focus, not to dig deeper into speculation.

"For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord. Thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome." (Jeremiah 29:11)

What Do Black Holes Have to Do With Faith?

Black holes are regions in space where gravity is so powerful that nothing, not even light, can escape once it gets close enough. The gravitational pull is absolute and inescapable beyond a certain point.

That's a picture of what sin did to humanity. We fell as a species into sin, and there was no escape from death's pull. We were all falling into a black hole of eternal separation from God.

But then Jesus died on the cross and introduced what Romans calls the law of life. "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." He is the rocket that breaks us free from the gravitational pull of death and darkness.

Darkness has never overpowered the true light. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness is powerless to stop it.

Should Christians Be Afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

AI is a tool. There is artificial intelligence, and then there is God's original intelligence. God can make something from nothing. AI can only work with what already exists.

God's Word is clear: "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God." (Philippians 4:6)

Is AI included in "anything"? Yes. Robotics? Yes. God's Word says don't have anxiety about it. Use it, master it, but don't let it lead you. You were designed to trust in the Lord with all your heart, not in a tool.

The Real Problem Isn't the Tool

A spoon, a car, a pharmaceutical, even a spatula have all been used to harm people. The problem was never the tool. It's the condition of the human heart. As long as people are being pulled into the black hole of sin without a Savior, anything can become dangerous. That reality points us back to Jesus, not to fear of technology.

Why Is Humanity in Such a Mess If God Is So Precise?

Two hundred billion trillion stars move at speeds of up to 160,000 miles per hour, choreographed to perfection. Scientists can predict where a specific star will be thousands of years from now, down to the day. God's universe is precise.

So why is humanity, the apex of His creation, in such disorder? The answer is the absence and neglect of His absolutes.

"They kept not the covenant of God and refused to walk according to His law and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them." (Psalm 78:10-11)

When people abandon God's absolutes, even gradually, even with good intentions, the consequences follow. You cannot redefine gravity and then act on your own version of it without hitting the pavement.

What the Bible Says About These Last Days

Second Timothy 3 describes the last days as dangerous times of great stress and trouble. People will be increasingly self-focused. And critically, they will always be learning and listening to anyone who will teach them, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

UFOs, black holes, and AI are not the real problem. Distraction from God's absolutes is the problem. The enemy uses fear of the unknown to pull our focus away from the One who holds all things together.

Greater is He that is in you than he that is in this world. That includes UFOs, black holes, and AI.

Life Application

This week, identify one area where fear of the unknown has been taking up mental and emotional space in your life. It might be anxiety about AI, unsettling news about UAPs, or something else entirely. Write down the specific fear, and then find one of God's absolutes from Scripture that speaks directly to it. Pray that verse out loud daily this week, and choose to seek His kingdom first before consuming more content that feeds the fear.

Ask yourself these questions:

• Am I spending more time consuming content that increases my anxiety than I am spending in God's Word?
• Do I actually believe that God's plans for me are for welfare and peace, or do I live as though the unknown is more powerful than He is?
• What would it look like this week to seek first the kingdom of God instead of seeking answers to things only God controls?

God is not rattled by what rattles you. His absolutes are the rock. Build on them, and the unknown loses its power over your peace.
