THE KINGDOM WAY

There are national fast food chains that tell us “you can have it your way”.  The problem is, what if your way is not working?  Society right now is pushing overtime to persuade people to demand life their way.  Whether it’s in the educational system, entertainment networks, government, pop culture, or world religions, there is a tidal wave of a crusade toward all things your way.  Eat your way, worship your way, have relationships your way, get all the stuff your way.  Spend the money your way, and as long as you get what you think you want ... it’s all good baby, it’s all good!

Now, when you really think about it and step back to see the big picture, doesn’t this sound like utter chaos?  You don’t have to be a social engineering expert to see that this is basically hell on wheels.  Pretending to be god, and making a god out of your preferences, doesn’t make for a good reality.  God, the Creator of the universe, is still God, and you having it your way does not come close to replacing His way.

As a global community we have bought into making an idol out of our way, and its complete chaos.  Personal preference and opinion are on full display as an arrogant, self-entitled, ego-driven mini-god stamping its feet just like an undisciplined 5-year-old wanting its own way.  We should be completely ashamed and yet in our ignorance of God’s good plan, we’re defiant and impetuous, to put it mildly.

Why am I here on earth?  Why was I born?  Deep in our hearts, we all want the answers to these fundamental and underlying questions.  If we try to find answers by looking inside ourselves, or studying the libraries of human thinking, we’re doing nothing more than creating intellectual feedback.  It’s a loop that may stimulate volume but not the sound of life.  Rather than hearing precious wisdom, we just continually generate a droning, irritating sonic wave of self-indulgent stupidity.  Psalm 53:1 says “The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt and evil are they, and doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.  So much for our way, independent of God.  Denial only self-imposes blindness to truth.

To answer the big questions of life you must always go to the source.  If you want to know how to work your slow cooker you go to the source - the manufacturer.  There’s a manual that gives you the way to operate that device with optimum results, safely, and for long life of the product.  The Bible says God the Creator made mankind in His image to “have dominion over the works of His hands.” (Psalm 8:6).  Our nagging desire to be god is not so far removed from God’s absolute Truth.  The problem arises when we pursue that desire independent of His absolute Truth.

The religious leaders were about to stone Jesus because they said it’s blasphemous for Him, a mere man, to make Himself out to be God.  Jesus replied in John 10:34, “Is it not written in your Law, I said, You are gods?”  Jesus came to restore the order and dignity of His original design, the manufacturers standard for humanity.  Religion and genetics have highjacked the narrative, robbing people of the true knowledge of God’s good will for them.

Jesus the King came to earth as man so He could restore every one of us to His Kingdom.  It’s kind of like the founder of Burger King inserted himself into the basic operation of each store and said, “Guys!  You’re failing because you’re advertising Big Macs and McChicken sandwiches.  We’re a different kingdom.  We sell Whoppers not Big Macs!  Can you just imagine walking into a Burger King and giving a McDonald’s order?  You’d say, “That’s crazy!  Well that’s what humanity is doing ordering the kingdom of darkness way standing in the middle of God’s creation.  Of course, it’s not going to go well.  Of course, we’ve lost our way!

Jesus said this in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.  In other words, if you want your desire filled, align your pursuit with the right kingdom ... God’s Kingdom!  Jesus came preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom.  If your tired of having your way and the futility of failed order after failed order, then get in line with King Jesus and pursue His way, the Kingdom Way.  Your life will never be the same because the King never fails.

Pray the Word:

Jesus I’m going to obey You and seek first the Kingdom of God.  The best news for me as a child of God is that the Kingdom of God is at hand.  I know well what it’s like to be out of order, but now my desire is to be aligned with Your order standing in Your Kingdom.  I don’t want my will to be done, but God Your will be done in my life.  That is a million times greater, better, more beautiful than anything I could ever desire for myself.  Praise you King Jesus for making all good things possible here on earth, according to your good will and the riches of Your glory.  Amen.
