God’s 20/20

To be able to see is an amazing gift. What you see determines a lot of the most basic choices you make in life. What you look at over and over establishes, to a great degree the way you think.  Advertisers depend heavily on visual stimulation to sell their products. You're driving down the road, and you see a billboard for this cola drink on ice, and it couldn't look better, or wetter.  Next thing you know, you’re so thirsty that you're pulling over for some of the same.

I have seen that what you look at determines what you believe and what you believe masters your choices and your choices paint your life. What you look at or aren't looking at is constantly shaping your future. Job said in chapter 31 verse 1, "I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then can I look lustfully on a woman?" Here's a guy that had the wisdom to realize that vision had everything to do with being blessed or not, so he actually made a personal contract with his eyes. If what you see with your physical eyes is so vital, then how much more important are the perceptions of your heart?

In Matthew 23:15-24 Jesus is coming down on the religious leaders because of their hypocritical attitudes and their abuse of the people. Jesus said they were "blind guides" and "blind fools". He wasn't talking about their ability to see but rather the blindness of their hearts. Here's what Proverbs 29:18 has to say, "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, blessed is he". You've got be able to see where you are going in your heart before you ever get there. From a successful business to a prosperous marriage, you have to have a vision of what's to be.

Joseph, the son of Israel, had a dream of being a world leader. His life looked like it was heading in the totally opposite direction though; sold into slavery and then in prison on rape charges. Still you can be sure of one thing, Joseph held onto the vision God had given him. That's why Joseph could endure the hardships of being a slave and the temptation of being seduced by a beautiful and powerful woman, he had a vision.  People who have a vision keep the law.  They're not living for the moment but for the prize and reward of seasons ahead.

Jeremiah 29:11 say’s that God is thinking good thoughts toward you on how to prosper you and bless you but the key is the state of your heart.  He needs access to your life and that only comes by faith; and faith is the evidence of things unseen, God-inspired hopes.  Without His vision and thoughts in your heart, Proverbs says you will die.  You can apply that to every area of your life: your marriage, your career, your health, and your finances.  Examine your heart today and even better pray like David did in Psalm 139:23,24.  "Search me, Oh God, and know my heart ... and lead me in the way everlasting."  You'll be amazed as you live this day what God will show you with 20/20 vision.

Bible Focus is Proverbs 29:18

“Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, blessed is he.”

Pray the Word:

As I read Your Word, Lord, fill my heart with big vision. Help me to see by the Spirit so I’m not walking through life guided by what I see in the natural realm. You give me vision Lord and help me to keep the law of Your Word and the law of the land.  I am blessed in Jesus' name Amen.
