FULLNESS & PLEASURE

You have been called to a certain condition. The purpose and work God has assigned to you is greatly dependent on your condition. My car is made to be a means of transportation but it has certain conditions it must meet to be successful. One of those critical conditions is that it has to have fuel in the tank. Without fuel or a charged battery, my car just won't work properly, even though it's a great design.

I have a few very nice guitars I use for worship and recording. They were designed to make music but they must be in a certain condition for that to be possible. One basic condition requirement is that the strings are in tune. I can take my most expensive, best-sounding guitar, play it just so, and if even one string is out of tune, it is basically unusable. A great guitar is an excellent design with a purpose but heavily reliant on it's condition.

As a child of God, you are called to a condition of fulness - fulness of joy and pleasure. Psalm 16:11 says, "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fulness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."  This is the condition we are called to.

Nehemiah 8:10 tells us not to sorrow, for the joy of The Lord is our strength. When you've been called to a condition of abiding in the presence of God's joy, it is a depressing, sad thing to try and function in your design but 'out of tune'. You and I were made for the pleasures at God's right hand and if we don't experience them, the vacuum is intolerable.  A man drowning has such an instinct to breath air, he'll eventually fill his own lungs with water to meet the need. So it is with any human not experiencing the conditions of life in God's presence.

If you can't have the real thing your flesh will resort to substitutes. The Bible calls these instincts works of the flesh and they show up in things like: lust, idolatry, jealousy, covetousness, selfishness, and on the list goes (Galatians 5:19-21).

You can't tempt a full man with a cookie. No one covets what they already have. Temptations abound in the world but there is a way out, and up. The fullness of God is the condition of an overcomer.  Jesus said He came to give us life, and life more abundantly!  We have a calling from God that is heavily dependent on the condition of experiencing that abundant life, joy and pleasure.  Reach out and take your Father's fullness. It's the secret to being blessed to be a blessing.

Let's Pray the Word:

Father Your path leads me into Your presence daily.  Here I am filled with Your full joy, and the abundant pleasures You lavish on me. I am blessed to be a blessing!
