Have you ever wondered why you feel restless, like you're searching for something you can't quite name? Many of us have been circling the same mountain of uncertainty and disappointment for years, much like the Israelites who wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. But God has something better in mind - a place where dreams are reborn.
Before we dive deeper, let's start with an honest question: Are you happy and blessed? Looking at the blank canvas of a new year, take a moment to genuinely assess your life. This isn't about giving the "right" spiritual answer - it's about honest self-reflection.
Proverbs 16:20 tells us that "whoever leans on, trusts in and is confident in the Lord - happy, blessed and fortunate is he." If we're not experiencing happiness, blessing, and a sense of being fortunate, it might be worth examining whether we're truly heeding God's word and counsel.
Home cannot be defined by buildings or man-made structures. If it could, then wealthy families would automatically be happier than those living in modest circumstances - but we know that's not true. Some studies even suggest that suicide attempts may be higher in more affluent neighborhoods.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely said, "A house is made with walls and beams. A home is built with love and dreams." Home is where you find your custom fit - a place that suits your gifts, abilities, and purpose perfectly. Just as Jesus perfectly fit the prophetic fingerprint of Messiah, God has a purpose and identity that's uniquely yours.
This might sound harsh, but it's a fundamental biblical truth: dreams must die before they can be reborn. The Bible is filled with examples of this principle in action.
Consider these powerful examples:
All these visionaries had their dreams die so they could be resurrected into miraculous reality.
Jesus explained this principle in John 3:6: "What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the spirit is spirit." Anything born of the flesh is temporary and subject to futility. Anything born of the spirit is lasting and not vulnerable to death.
As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:36, "Every time you plant seed, you sow something that does not come to life unless it dies first." This is the wisdom of seed, time, and harvest that God has built into the very fabric of creation.
Delusional faith is comfortable with believing but never seeing. It tolerates situations that God never intended us to endure. Good people sometimes stay in harmful relationships because they refuse to let their old dreams die and be reborn into something better.
When we try to solve problems without letting go of what needs to die, we often create worse situations. The world wants harvest without letting go of the seed, but that's not how God's kingdom operates.
You have far more control over your future than you might imagine. God does the impossible on earth, but always in partnership with a person. Right now, God is looking across the globe for someone He can show Himself mighty on their behalf.
Proverbs 23:7 reminds us that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Jesus added in Luke 6:45 that "the intrinsically good man produces what is good and honorable out of good treasures stored up in his heart."
Every thought you choose creates your world. You're applying paint to the canvas of your life. Life doesn't flow to you - it flows out of you.
Jesus made an incredible promise in John 14:23: "If a person really loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."
Your life isn't centered on some religious building or earthly location. Your power and existence flow from the source of all goodness - God's presence. As Acts 17:28 says, "In him we live and move and have our being."
When Moses prepared the Israelites for the Promised Land, God gave specific instructions in Deuteronomy 6:5-7 about loving God with their entire being and keeping His words constantly in their hearts and minds. Your dreams are like children that need to be taught God's ways.
This week, take these three concrete steps to position yourself where dreams can be reborn:
First, let go. Trust God and release control of the dreams that seem dead or impossible. Stop trying to resurrect them in your own strength.
Second, put your dreams into God's hands. Yes, even that dream you believe is lost, gone, or buried. Dry bones come alive in God's presence.
Third, stay in the context of His presence. Make attending to God's word and living in His presence your number one priority. Stop working at your dream and start working at entering His rest.
Questions for Reflection:
Remember, you were never meant to live as an outsider or exile from God's power and presence. You were destined to be an insider with God, enjoying every day the power and privilege of authoring blessings onto the canvas of your life. Welcome home.
